We have a dedicated Neighbour Engagement Team that:

  • can meet face to face initially to understand the project from your perspective
  • visit your property
  • be your contact point to the project
  • will guide you through the voluntary neighbour agreement process

Many eligible neighbours who have shared their experiences with us since 2023, have provided personal information about their circumstances, property and potential mitigations. We value and respect these insights and hold them in-confidence.

It is for this reason we have not sought to engage with neighbours as a single cohort as we intend to form voluntary agreements with individual owners.

Register for Readiness and Resilience Group Session

We want to provide opportunities for neighbours to manage the changes proposed by the project.

We are seeking expressions of interests from neighbours who live or own property near the project to participate in a Resilience and Readiness Group Session.

This is a confidential group session for people experiencing significant change, which is run by an independent facilitator.

To respect this space and the structured opportunity for neighbours, EnergyAustralia would fund the activity but not be a participant or observer.

The Session can help neighbours connect with tools, advice and understanding in a shared collective space that can help individuals prepare and manage change.

To express your interest in participating in the Session email: lakelyellneighbour@energyaustralia.com.au

Neighbour agreements

Neighbours are important to us.

Since 2023 we have been engaging with neighbours informing the development of the neighbour agreement process. The neighbour agreement process is outlined in the updated Neighbour Agreement Guide released in March 2026. The Neighbour Agreement Guide provides an overview of the Lake Lyell Hydro Neighbour Agreement process. It outlines eligibility and payments that will be available to eligible neighbours and how we will work with you to understand the potential for impact(s) related to you and your property. Neighbour agreements are commonplace for significant infrastructure and voluntary. The updated Neighbour Agreement Guide is available here.
